This OG post was created back in November 2025. I revisited with my Mini 5 Pro went further and captured more here is the exploration of this Glorious park along with a bit of History of the place.
Ann & Chuck Dever Regional Park
Englewood, Florida | Charlotte County
---
315 acres. That's a lot of ground.
Formerly called Oyster Creek Regional Park, it sits at the eastern end of a greenway that runs along Oyster Creek all the way toward Lemon Bay. Most of the acreage is either active-use space or protected environmental land — pine flatwoods, scrub, the kind of Florida that doesn't look like a postcard but has actual wildlife moving through it. Cypress trees. An abandoned eagle's nest. Coontie plants that have been growing in Florida since before recorded history.
The Red Trail and the Blue Trail cut through the back of the park. Together they make about a 1.7-mile loop. The Oyster Creek Waterfront Trail connects the whole thing to Cedar Point Environmental Park, and at one point you pass under SR 775 along the creek. Worth the walk just for that stretch.
The rec side of the park is fully loaded. 23,000-square-foot recreation center built in 2019. Eight-lane, 25-yard heated competition pool with a dive well, wheelchair ramp, splash pad, the works. Three lighted football fields. Basketball courts, tennis courts lined for pickleball, a skate park, disc golf, a cricket field. There's an off-leash dog park with a separate small-dog section, water stations, and some open grass, though shade is limited out there.
Inside the rec center: six basketball goals, a gymnasium lined for pickleball and volleyball, a fitness center, two multi-purpose rooms for rentals, and a community garden out back.

Good drone potential in the back trails section. The pond near the trailhead kiosk is worth checking.
